Invisalign

Your Invisalign® treatment consists of a series of nearly invisible, removable aligners that you change every two weeks for the next set of aligners. Each aligner is individually manufactured for your teeth, and your teeth only. As you replace each aligner, your teeth will move - little by little, week by week, until they have straightened to the final position.
You also have the choice of traditional Braces, click here to learn more.

What's more, a virtual treatment plan generated by Align Technology's unique ClinCheck® software shows the series of movements your teeth will go through over the course of the treatment. This allows you to see upfront what your teeth are expected to look like at the end of the treatment. From the results of the ClinCheck® software, your custom-made, clear aligners are produced especially for you.

Initial Consultation

During the initial consultation, we will discuss the issues you have with your teeth and explore what kind of results you're hoping to achieve. If Invisalign® is suitable for you, a treatment plan will be mapped out with your goals in mind, and we will take impressions of your teeth and send these to the Invisalign® laboratories for processing.

Treatment Plan

The impressions of your teeth will be digitised in order for us to review a computerised 3D image of your teeth. We will then prescribe and review the precise tooth movements throughout the duration of your personal treatment plan, and you'll be able to see a virtual representation of your teeth before, during, and after the treatment, so you can see what your smile is expected to look like once you've finished the treatment.

Bespoke Aligners

Once we have agreed to your treatment plan, bespoke aligners are then custom-made for you and have to be worn for approximately two weeks before you switch to the next aligner in the series. While the number of aligners varies for each individual, a full treatment typically includes 18-36 aligners for both the upper and lower teeth, which will take approximately 9-18 months depending on your individual case.

Treatment Process

Aligners should be worn day and night, except when eating, brushing or flossing teeth in order to complete your treatment in the timeline we have determined for you. You'll go in for check-ups every 4-6 weeks to monitor your progress, and to receive your next series of aligners. During the entire treatment process, you'll notice small movements, and your teeth will gradually move into an even and healthy smile.

Invisalign Q&A

Will Invisalign aligners be noticeable?

The beauty of Invisalign aligners is that they are virtually invisible.
In fact, most people may not even notice you're straightening your teeth!

Will wearing Invisalign aligners affect my speech?

Similar to other orthodontic treatments, Invisalign aligners may temporarily affect the speech of some people, so you might have a slight lisp for a day or two. However, as you get used to having the aligners in your mouth, you'll be able to speak normally.

Will Invisalign treatment hurt?

Some people do experience discomfort for a few days at the beginning of each new stage of treatment. This is normal and typically described as a feeling of pressure. It's a sign that your Invisalign aligners are working!

What can I eat/drink with Invisalign aligners?

Unlike traditional braces, there're no restrictions on what you can/cannot eat during your Invisalign treatment since your aligners are removable. So you can continue enjoying all your favorite foods unless instructed otherwise by your doctor.

How does it work?

Invisalign takes a modern approach to straightening teeth, using a custom-made series of aligners created for you and only you.
These aligner trays are of smooth, comfortable and virtually invisible plastic that you wear over your teeth. Wearing the aligners will gradually move your teeth into place, based on the exact movements your orthodontist or dentist plans for you.

How long does it take?

The length of Invisalign treatment depends on the complexity of your case. Your doctor will be the best person to estimate how long your treatment plan will take. Typically, the time frame is about 12-18 months.

How many hours must I wear my Invisalign aligners?

In order for Invisalign treatment to be most effective, you need to wear your aligners most of the day (20-22 hours). It's best to keep them in unless you're eating, drinking, brushing or flossing! And when starting a new set, we suggest doing it overnight so you get a full 12 hours of wear!

How often do I need to switch my Invisalign aligners?

Typically, you'll chance your Invisalign aligners every two weeks.
Each new aligner will gradually move your teeth into place until your reach your desired result!

How soon will I see my results?

You'll start seeing your smile transform within a matter of months.
And with every aligner (usually every two weeks), your smile will get closer to its final, beautiful state.

How should I clean my Invisalign aligners?

You can clean your Invisalign aligners by brushing them with a small amount of toothpaste and water. Be sure that each aligner is rinsed thoroughly with water after each cleaning.
Denture cleaner is not recommended for your Invisalign aligners as it can damage the surface, causing them to become dull.
